Destination Learning Heads Out To China

Destination Learning one of the Liverpool Pavilion sponsors travelled out to Shanghia in August to support Liverpool Vision help sell Liverpool's message on the global stage. The month of August was the ideal time for Destination Learning to attend World Expo as the month had been specifically themed the " Knowledge Sector" month.

Led by The University of Liverpool August is being used as a platform for Liverpool and the North West to highlight its strengths in education and research.

The University of Liverpool is leading a cluster of North West Universities, including,  University of Chester, Liverpool John Moores University, Edge Hill University, University of Salford and Liverpool Hope University to position their collective higher educational to the Chinese market

The Knowledge Sector month has feature a number of cutting edge events hosted in the Liverpool Pavilion led by the University of Liverpool, including symposiums  showcasing  world-leading research in Zoonosis, Urban Design Futures, New Frontiers in Materials Chemistry, and Maritime Logistics and Supply Chain Management. 

The University of Liverpool also created history when it was allowed to confer the first overseas degrees to Chinese students on Chinese soil. The first cohort of students graduating from The University of Liverpool's campus in China, based in Suzhou were given their awards at a special graduation ceromony. 

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is a collaborative joint venture between  Xi’an Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the UK. Its objective is to establish a new international university in Dushu Lake Higher Education Town, Suzhou Industrial Park, offering degree programmes in the subject areas of science, engineering, and management.

The University is the first Sino-British collaboration of its kind approved by the Ministry of Education. The University’s vision is to become a research-led international university in China and a Chinese university recognized internationally, with its unique features in teaching & learning, research, social service, education and management philosophy.

Paul Mullins, Managing Director of Destination Learning said, " It was fantastic to have the opportunity to travel to Shanghia and support Liverpool in its efforts to position itself within this emerging economic powerhouse and to gain an insight into the internationalisation of Higher Education".
